The girl can WAIL!!

A couple of years ago, a voice caught my attention.  It was the voice of Adele, a young new singer hot out of Britain.  So many female singers these days seem to overdo it.  I just want to scream FIND A NOTE AND HIT IT!!  There’s a nuance to singing and just because you CAN hit every note doesn’t mean you SHOULD.  I was completely impressed by Adele.  She has an amazing voice and uses it wisely.  She describes her music as “heartbroken soul” and while she does have a touch of soul, she keeps it very contemporary at the same time.  Her first album was called “19” and won her Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammy’s.  She deserved both wins and more in my opinion.  She had several hits in the UK, but the one that really broke out here was called “Chasing Pavements”.  Amazing song!

Her new album “21” is already out in the UK and comes out tomorrow here in the states.  The debut single “Rolling in the Deep” is blowing me away!!!  Her voice is in top form and the video is brilliant!  I can’t wait to get this album!!

I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with Adele and her amazing voice in the future.  The girl can wail, and I’m loving every second of it.  You can find her official site HERE.  She is also on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and you can follow her on Ping.  Her new album is available tomorrow in stores and on iTunes.

  1. Kudos to you for not only exposing us to a fantastic singer but for making a fantastic point. IIRC, it all started with a show named Star Search, and if that wasn’t enough it continued on American Idol. I speak here of singers who hit notes (or try to, anyway) just for the sake of hitting notes. I want to scream when I hear this. It’s so damn unappealing ..

  2. Nice work – LURV Adele!

  3. AS a follow up – the new album is excellent!
